How to judge the best girlfriend AI in one evening
Ranking lists rank marketing. These four checks take about an hour each and tell you what a screenshot never will — whether the character holds, whether the memory returns, and what the app quietly asks for.

Four checks that separate a good companion app from a demo
Every one of these fails silently in the first ten minutes and obviously in the first two hours, which is why the free tier is the test bench.
The first check is consistency. Give a character a position and argue against it. The best girlfriend ai holds the temperament it advertised — a blunt one stays blunt when you push, a soft one does not suddenly turn clinical. Apps that fail this feel excellent for twenty minutes and hollow by the end of the evening.
The second is memory. Mention something concrete, leave, come back the next day and refer to it obliquely. Coming back on its own is the pass; needing to be reminded is the fail. The third is tone control: ask for a different register mid-conversation and see whether the next message obeys or whether you have to start a new thread to change anything.
The fourth check is the one people skip — what the app asks of you. Contacts, a photo, a public profile, a card before the first message. A companion app has no honest reason to want any of them, and the ones that do are selling something other than conversation.

Running the four checks on one evening
Start with tone, because it is the fastest. Ask for blunter, then softer, then blunter again inside one conversation. If the register lags by more than a message, the control is decorative. Then spend an hour on consistency: pick the character whose description you liked least and try to talk them out of their own personality.
Leave memory for the second session, because it cannot be tested inside one. Come back the next day, mention nothing directly, and see what she raises herself. That single moment tells you more than any feature list, and it is the reason a free tier with no time limit is worth more than a longer paid trial.
